The Sounds of Freedom - 2021 Message From Our Founder, Tahlia

I must admit, coming into this year I was feeling pretty optimistic. After a very relaxing Christmas break, I was excited about the prospect of things ‘returning to normal’ and jumping back into Sheer Chemistry.

I don’t personally subscribe to the ‘New Year, New Me’ mantra but I had decided that this year I would be doing things differently, you know, pushing the boat out a bit more… but what I wasn’t prepared for was yet another National Lockdown! I know you’re probably as tired of this as I am which is why I wanted to remind us all (me included) of the freedom that we still have and should maximise throughout 2021!

Freedom #1 - Thou shall Write Your Own Rules

I found love in Lockdown! Crazy huh?

On an app of all places (Hinge for those enquiring minds). As many countries in the world enter into Lockdown again, I share this to say that many would say that this year isn’t the best time to do certain things. Your goals may seem wild to others, but what if you try and succeed? So let’s throw caution to the wind and do whatever our hearts desire. Just dive in and start swimming in that direction.

In 2020, I was also really proud to see Sheer Chemistry hit mainstream shelves and launch in John Lewis in what most would say was an impossible year to get into retail. So, I insist, let's swim against the current and declare this a year of writing our own rules. Bet on yourself and we will all be better for it!

Freedom #2 - Your Story is Your Power 

In 2020 our online community grew. We hosted IG Lives with women who inspire us including Harkiran Kalsi, Designer, Illustrator and Lettering Artist to discuss How to Start a Business From Scratch, we chatted with Ejiro Okorodudu, Founder of Ejiro Sugaring Studio to dispel the myths of body hair and assert our own definitions of beauty. 

When the world got dark, we were vulnerable and addressed the fact that many of us simply were not coping and got honest with psychotherapist, Karen Hartley to discuss how to Heal & Maintain our Mental Health. 

During both our highs and our lows, we embraced the fact that our story is our power and it is the act of sharing that gives us the most strength. So In 2021, we hope you feel empowered to share more of yours.

Freedom #3 - Thou shalt not forget… You are Enough!

Whether you decide to stop, change direction or accelerate, the fact remains: you are one badass who has so much beauty, ambition and wisdom! Your worth is not defined by where you are, how much you earn or how many orders you received from Amazon on the daily. In 2021, come as you are because the world needs what you’ve got!

We are Grateful. 

Lastly, I want to thank you for being part of the Sheer Chemistry community. I don’t know what 2021 will bring, but I can promise that our vision remains the same: to create a more diverse perception of beauty and empower you to feel confident and gorgeous in your own skin. We believe that 2021 will be amazing for us all!
